For those of you who like rankings etc…

Posted: May 4, 2014 in Burger Hunt

So I’ve been badgered about incessantly by a number of you who want me to do some form of scoring system etc… To be honest I’m a little bit hesitant to do so because I find that your experience at a place can be highly variable. Especially when it comes to burgers as it’s not always a restaurant, it could be a food van or stall. But I have decided to have a look back at the burgers that I’ve tried so far and come up with a quick ranking system.  To explain:

  •  0 – 3:
    • You’d be better off going to Macca’s – or anywhere else in fact, these burgers are terrible
  • 3.5 – 5:
    • Very average burger – wouldn’t recommend
  • 5.5 – 6.5:
    • Not bad, but not great. Missing something
  • 7 – 8
    • A very good burger – hard to find things not to like
  • 8.5+
    • Amazing – these are the burgers you want to eat
Ranking as of May 2014 Out of 10
Rockpool Bar and Grill 9.5
Beatbox 9
Spotted Mallard 8.5
Gloria Swanstons Kitchen 8.5
The Royale Brothers 8
Rockwell and Sons 8
The Woodlands Hotel 7.5
Ribs & Burgers 7.5
Fat Bob’s Bar and Grill 7
The Merrywell 7
Steeples Bistro 7
Misty’s Diner 6.5
The Portland Hotel 6.5
NSHRY 5
Burger Edge 4.5
The Elsternwick Hotel 3.5

So I’m going to add my ratings as well (to the one’s I’ve gone to), since they’re a little different from Andrew’s:

Rockpool – 9.5 (although this is from a few years back so it’s hard to remember it any more accurately than “damn that was amazing”)
    Spotted Mallard – 9
    Gloria Swanston’s – 8.5
    The Woodlands Hotel – 8
Ribs & Burgers – 8 (***my burger was different from Andrew and Chris’s – very important here to add onion rings & bacon as their bacon is of the thinly sliced, double smoked variety. yummm)
    Royale Brothers – 7
    Burger Edge – 3

    🙂

There is a rib & burgers opening on Glenferrie Rd in Hawthorn (near Barkers Rd) is it worth trying??
